Woah…..

…it has already been 2 months since I last posted??

Time flies when you’re having fun eh? hehe…

Well, truth be told, its hard to find internet in the camp and even if there was it was troublesome. So I’m currently using my phone’s 3G connection for my internet.

But it cost money, so…Ouch!

Ok, anyway here’s a quick update of all that has happened for the past 2 months:

On December 21st, I left my beloved family and friends to serve the nation in Brunei

Family

Best Friends

Boarded the plane with 3 other NS men who were heading to Brunei….

Heading into the plane

Still in Singapore...

In the air...On the way...

…and I arrived 2 hours later

Landed in Brunei

Getting off

We were then fetched from the airport by our military personnel to our camp.

Once there, the first thing I did was to link up with my friend who left before me.

Ambrose Lim

Let me tell you…my camp is infested with some bugs we probably will never see if we did not travel into the jungle. And as some of you know, I hate all big flying bugs!

Cicada

Unknown species of moth

Polka Dotted Yellow Moth

On the 2nd day of my arrival, I headed out for some official duty with a colleague (then, now friend) and Ambrose, and explored the city of Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei.

The Mall, the only decent mall in BSB

Oh yes! I forgot to mention how we got over to BSB (Bandar Seri Begawan) from my camp. First we had to take a vehicle out to the town in Bangar (10 to 15 min drive).

And then we had to take a water taxi to BSB. The total time taken to travel to the city?

.

.

Nearly 1 hour!!

Well actually I don’t really have much complains about it. Its good if the rest is needed (especially after guard duty), otherwise its just enduring ass pain for most parts.

Water Taxi

The way to get in and out of the water taxi

Here I made some great friends and we celebrated Christmas and New Year here in Brunei…Together…

Happy X'Mas!

Happy New Year!!

And there you have it! A short 2 months story of my life here in Brunei!

Can’t wait to go back to Singapore for my holiday! :D

Cheers! :)

Heading to the light…

It’s been 12 days since my last post and I’m very sorry for letting you guys see the same picture day after day.

I have not abandoned my photo blog, I’ve just been a little busy preparing for my overseas posting to Brunei.

But don’t worry! I’ll still be updating and posting photos from there. Just maybe, less frequent than before but…

but..I hope you guys will still continue to support me like before! :D

So anyway, last month I had my wisdom tooth extracted, and guess how many?

4! at one go!

My 4 wisdom tooth...2 of which are sawn into halves

Few days later, I went to lunch with my friends and we went to this great hamburger or rather “hand-burger” restaurant.

I ate this huge beer-battered fish burger that consisted of 2 dory fish fillet and very delicious special hamburger bread. The fries are super delicious and crispy, paired together with their BBQ sauce…it was simply delectable!

So right now, I am preparing to head over to Brunei. Packing and settling things here.

I just hope that everything will go smooth there!

And if everything thing goes well, I’ll be back in Singapore within a few months or not, I’ll be back in a year’s time.

Heading to the light...

So I hope to be able to talk to you all very soon! but before that, take care y’all and be happy!

Cheers! :)

Delizioso!

A few days ago, actually on 16 November, was my dear brother’s birthday.

He picked a fantastic little Italiano restaurant to celebrate with us.

Why was it fantastic?

Firstly, the ambient is really soothing and the restaurant itself was pretty secluded, so you wouldn’t see much people walking by as you eat. (though its quite secluded, you could find the restaurant if you put a little effort.)

Secondly and the most important part of all, the food is fantastic!

Lastly and the best part of all, the price is right!

Here’s a peek of the decor and ambience:

Left: My dad, Right: My brother

Oh yes! I realised I have yet to tell you guys the name of the restaurant…Silly me!

The restaurant name is:

It's not over till the fat lady sings!

So now on to the food introduction…

The starter: Pizza

Ham and Mushroom Pizza

The pizza we had was a Ham and Mushroom pizza. (I’m sure that they have a fancy Italian name for it.) Their pizzas are mostly (probably all) thin-crusted.

Oh and I’m sure most of you will be glad to know that, the pizzas are hearth-baked! (The traditional way of baking in a brick oven.)

It’s quite succulent and delicious. Definitely much much better than Pizza Hut or Sarpino’s or what have you, of course.

Next we have the main dish: Risotto Seafood Rice

Doesn't it look bloody? :P

Well, I didn’t order this (my sis-in-law did) but I did try it and it is delicious!

There’s clams, squids and prawn in it and the rice is short grains, not the normal rice we use in Chinese cooking.

It’s like eating pasta but instead of eating noodles, you’re eating rice.

Lastly, the dessert: Panna Cotta

Oh so good!

Now, this is one of another dessert that was so good, I was tempted to go back to the restaurant another day just to eat this!

It’s sweet and milky and with the strawberry sauce and chocolate shaving added, it…was….heavenly!

And added the bottom of the cup, you could see vanilla powder.

If next time you see black dots under your desserts, don’t freak out.

It’s not dirt or anything bad, it’s the vanilla powder that they added to make your dessert more fragant.

Anyway, it was so good, I even ate half of my sis-in-law share. (I didn’t steal from her, she gave it to me!)

Overall, it was a very good experience there and I would definitely go back there one day to try with my friends!

Once again, take care guys and I’ll be talking to you soon!

Cheers! :D

Spirit of Giving

So….Christmas is around the corner. In fact, it is exactly 41 days to Christmas! (Yay!)

And I believe everyone is in the mood to GIVE! (I hope..)

You guys should be buying things that you would like give to your father, mother, sisters, brothers friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, acquintances, etc.

Ok…maybe not so fast but i guess you all should be making a list already right?

Well…unfortunately, I will not be here, in Singapore (boohoo…) to celebrate Christmas with my friends and family because I’ll be in Brunei! Serving my National Service aka Army.

Though I hope they drag it long enough for me to do one last festival celebration before I go, it’s probably quite impossible.

Anyway yesterday I was at Vivocity, doing some shopping by myself.

No…I’m not a loner if you’re thinking that.

It was because I was gonna meet a friend later on so I decided to go down early and look around, see if I could find something that I like.

While I was there, I saw the project “We Are One” going on.

Apparently, they invited school children to participate in the project.

Oh ya! Before I carry on, this project “We Are One” is a project by Mediacorp, CapitaLand and LEGO Singapore, initiated by Mediacorp to raise $1 million for charity which will help Singaporeans and families affected by the economic downturn.

You might have seen an advertisement by local celebrities asking you to buy a brick or heard it on local radio but didn’t know what it was for.

Well, THIS IS IT.

So how they do raise that $1 million? Basically, you will have to buy a LEGO® brick at $2 per brick and then use the brick to build a 5m by 8m Singapore island.

And this concept was inspired by none other than our Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Back to my shopping……

So I was simply walking everywhere around ION Orchard.

I didn’t go to any other shopping centers to look because ION Orchard has basically everything and I should be able to find something eventually right?

Well..eventually, I did find what I want.

At Zara.

And this is what I got:

I should not have taken a photo in the changing room but I did...

I got the vest/waistcoat, not the shirt although….it did go well together.

I was looking for a waistcoat for quite sometime now and its feels great to finally get one that I like!

So…! That’s all I have for you folks today! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Cheers and Take care! :)

Let’s have supper at……

SUPPERCLUB. We didn’t go there for supper but we did go there for a clubbing event: Good Girls Go Bad.

It was organised by Khronosphere Productions owned by 2 of my best friends, Davis Koh and Justin Tan and you’re gonna hear a lot from them if you go to clubbing events often.

So, LOOK OUT FOR THEM!

Just a quick review about Supperclub…

Its looks really great inside! There’s lots of comfy sofas on the sides. (in fact, it’s 2 levels! Both levels with a bar and lots of huge sofas to lie on.)

And if you like loud music, they have big ass speakers at the 4 corners of the club! (I think..)

Just being inside for about 30 mins already made me partially deaf! (I had ringing in my ear when I left the place..)

The only other time I became partially deaf was when I was at Zouk…

Now, the time I was there was perhaps a good 4 to 5 hours and when I left the place, I seriously had a hard time hearing my friends talking ( with ringing in my ear.)

and I was like that for a WHOLE MONTH!! Sigh…I never went back…

And here are the photos! :

Sir. We’re landing now…

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , on November 7, 2009 by maswufh

So…last night me, Alicia, Bernard, Cun Liang, Davis, Justin, Jim, Vivian and Wilson (my gang of best friends) were at Helipad @ Central, Clarke Quay.

Now for those who don’t go to clubs or bars often, you would ask: “What’s so special about Helipad?”. (Cause that was what I asked.)

Well, firstly when we reached there, we were greeted by 2 of their staff and there was an elevator right behind them.

Let me ask you all this…when you see an elevator door, you would naturally presume that the elevator would bring us somewhere up or down from the level that you’re at right?

But NO! Believe it or not, it was a door to the club! AN ELEVATOR DOOR USED AS A DOOR TO THE CLUB! How cool was that?!

So most of my friends who entered the door was, well, shocked beyond belief and excited at the same time!

So after we entered, we got us a table and Jim ordered us a bottle of Smirnoff.

Truth be told, I don’t really like drinking vodka very much.

Usually, 1 glass of mixer with vodka would last me the whole night…

but Smirnoff was great! I could drink more than I normally would!

It was much smoother than the popular Absolut Vodka and we finished the whole bottle within 2 hours.

So anyway, here are some of the photos from last night:
